Over the past few years I’ve started doing some videos for clients (outside of my journalism advising job), and I’ve done almost all my editing using Adobe Premiere. For a high school journalism adviser or student who’s looking at some possibilities for video editing, Davinci Resolve should definitely be on your list. It’s powerful, fully featured, and can stand toe-to-toe in the ring with some of the big players in the game like Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. This 4K footage edits smoothly on my computer. This is a screenshot of the editing environment. DaVinci Resolve 16 from Blackmagic Design is no joke. If you are in need of high-end video editing software but think there are no free options that are viable, then think again.
